You can never go wrong with a ham. While it may be served any time of the year, there is something about ham and holidays that seems to go together best. If you're thinking simple simple, you can just go to your local grocery store's deli and they have pre-made ones. Most of those are already cooked and you just have to reheat (or keep warm) and serve.

For sides along the simple route, mashed potatoes are best. If you don't want to do the whole process of cooking and mashing yourself, the instant 'tatoes are just as good. My family loves to have two kinds of mashed potatoes: cheesy and garlic. Any kind of veggie fits your dinner. Fresh is best but takes more time to cook. Pick up some canned veggies of your choice. With mashed potatoes, my family and I love peas or corn to mix in with our mashed potatoes and gravy. Some people don't like their food to touch so a bigger veggie would be best so it doesn't roll into the potatoes. =)

For desert, you can't go wrong with pie. I haven't met a person who doesn't love some kind of pie.

You can get a simple dinner easy with just a short 15 minute shopping trip and a little while in the kitchen. A lot of items now have receipes on the container so you might want to venture out and try that. It all depends on how long you want to stand over a hot stove.

Merry Christmas!
well when we have a big family get together for Christmas we always make lots of food...there are some who don't like turkey or ham...so I would suggest (if it's cold weather) maybe chicken and dumplings or a roast with all the trimmings maybe a clam chowder or a potato soup...but it all depends on what kind of food you enjoy eating...I have lots of recipes if you might think of one you might like if I have it I don't mind giving...good luck...Have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year
Our family always likes Tater Tot Casserole

Fry up 3 lbs. of Hamburg and drain

Add

1 can cream of celery soup %26amp;

1 can cream of mushroom soup

spread in 13X 9 loaf cake pan

sprinkle

1 1/2 lbs of grated cheese (mix of Cheddar and Mortuary Jack)

Place one bag of Tater Tots single thickness on the top

Bake at 350 until bubbly (a bout 45min- 1 hour)
The last 2 years we have had homemade lasagna which you can make the day before. This year it is a rib roast, mashed potatoes 2 green veggie, corn and a couple desserts.
