Anyone have any simple, kid friendly recipes???

My kids are 6, 4, %26amp; 2 and very picky eaters. The kind that only eat chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and cereal. HELP!!!Anyone have any simple, kid friendly recipes???
If you want fat, dullard kids, keep feeding them McNuggets. And Pizza with bacon and pepperoni???? Nothing like 80% of your calories from fat and about 600 calories per serving, and all those triglycerides and chemicals -- not good for kids.

You are the adult.

You can start by having them plant a veggie garden. It is amazing how much little kids like eating what they've grown.

Pizza. Oh my god. That's child abuse.Anyone have any simple, kid friendly recipes???
I can relate!!! lots of oatmeal and yogurt gets served around here but i don't care bc I know it's healthy.

we love making chicken quesidillas with the quesidilla maker. you can put in some diced red peppers, onions, grilled chicken, cheese, and top with whatever they like (sour cream salsa, guacomale)

But if you don't have the time, here's a great alternative....in the frozen entree section, Smart ones makes chicken quesidillas. two servings come in each box. you can microwave for 4 minutes and they come out crispy and tase great.

also I love to mash avocados and put a teaspoon of guacomole seasoning and fill the tostido's baked scoops with guacomale. it's a big hit around here and avocados are great sourceof potassium, antioxidants and the good fat.

I also mix in peas, spinach, or broccholi with their mac and cheese.

I think baked pizzas with veggies is a good alternative to picky eaters (get he mini frozen ones and everyone can choose their own healthy toppings (sliced tomatos w/ basil, broccholi, spinach)

snacks or between meals:

the other favorite here: smoothies in blender. strawberries, banana, crushed ice, water, orange juice

yogurt, berries, and granola layered in clear cup

they might like home made chicken soup w/ alphabets. Empty 2 large cans of low sodium broth into a big pot and boil diced carrots, celery, onion, basil, salt, pepper, bay leaf, after tender add alphabets and cooked diced chicken. Make some biscuits with it. my family likes sandwiches on biscuits too and a side of soup.
Make Nutella sandwiches

(Hazelnut chocolate spread)

2 pieces of whole Grain bread

2 table spoons of Nutella
my son is a picky eater also... but suprisingly loves peanut butter on celery sticks topped with raisins.

for treats i like to make homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.

they also love all kids of fruit.
Here are some recipes that kids under 6 can make themselves (with some supervision)

If you wander around a bit on that website there are lots of simple recipes including some with mac and cheese with some extra ingredients.
Remember, YOU are the parent. I saw this video once of parents who only fed their child oatmeal. The kid ended up in a wheel chair for months. Try new things with them- don't do McDonalds, and you CAN force them to eat it if they don't cooperate. Try saying that if they ate all of their veggies, they would get a snack after dinner or get to wrestle with daddy or something. Good Luck!
Get them involved in choosing and preparing the foods.
you should buy jessica seinfields book its called deceptively delicious it talks about hiding healthy foods in things that children will eat like chocolate cake and the food tastes sooo good
MAYBE it's TIME you Teach them there is More to LIFE THAN MC DONALDS!

It's NOT their fault they don't know MORE Nutritious food!

REMEMBER ALL we Learn in our 'formative' years...Birth to 12yo. we LEARN from our Parents.
I spent years making four course dinners only to realize that kids tend to like the ingredients better than the meal. For instance, rather than mashed potatoes, vegetable, and roast beef mine would rather have oven fries, Cold sliced roast beef and raw veggies with ranch dip. The nutrition is just about the same, maybe better. They also like things that they make themselves better, usually. Instead of pizza from Dominoes, try a make your own pizza night? You can use tortillas and make ';mexican style'; pizza--let them put on what they like. They're more likely to experiment with foods they are not ';pressured'; to eat. Hope this helps.
The first poster mentioned one thing I was going to suggest: the celery stick thing. I call them Ants on a Log. :)

Try cutting up cheese and lunch meat into triangles and other little shapes. Kids love finger foods! You can also cut a sandwich (peanut butter and marshmallow fluff or bananas or whatever) with a cookie cutter to make a fun shape (Christmas tree, circle, whatever).

How about mini pizzas made with English muffins? Put some pizza sauce and cheese or whatever else your kids like on top.

My son LOVES cucumber slices and baby corn! We find baby corn in cans in the Asian foods section in our grocery store. It's another finger food that is good for them and fun to eat.

You can roll up just about anything in a tortilla and serve it in a long roll or cut the roll into bite sized bits and have them eat that. Ham, cheese, salami, whatever.

Good luck!
YOU are the one that purchases and prepares the food. YOU are the boss. Make what you want them to eat. Do not serve them chicken nuggets or mac and cheese for a long time (at least 2 weeks, or until they begin trying new foods). Make what you want them to eat and put it in front of them. They must take one bite of each new food per year of age.

Try mixing other veggies in with mashed potatoes.
Pigs in a blanket

Prepare kosher hot dogs, wrap them in a square of cheese and a square of whole wheat bread and bake them. These are easy and while not the most nutritious, they're a start.
well my kids LOVE pizza so in order to change things up a bit i started making strombolli. that has become their new favorite food. heres the recipe...

-canned pizza dough (in the section of grocery store where the canned biscuits are found)

-shredded mozzerella cheese

-pepperoni slice

-canadian bacon slices

-marinara sauce

roll the pizza dough out on baking sheet and cut in half. then put alayer of pepperoni and a layer of canadian bacon. add mozzerella cheese and roll dough. make sure dough is closed n both ends. bake in the oven at 400 degrees for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. cut in half and use marinara sauce to dip. YUM!!!

*you can add any ingredient you like such as onions, mushrooms, ground beef, sausage, etc.*
